Save the date - 4th December 2017



The Library 24 hour access system is being replaced on 

Monday 4th December 

From this date your current 24 hour access card will no longer work 


Please ask the library team for more  information and to arrange to collect your new card









Clinical Key on Trial


Trial access is now available for all staff and students until the end of December 2017

ClinicalKey is a comprehensive clinical search engine produced by Elsevier.

To access this resource go to: www.clinicalkey.com and Login via OpenAthens, you can also activate your account and register for personalised features which will allow you to download content. 

ClinicalKey contains:

  • 650+ online journals, including key titles that we do not currently have direct access to
  • 1000+  ebooks, including many core titles and atlases
  • 17,000 videos and images

As well as searching for specific terms you can browse books or journals and limit to specialties to see what is available in one or more clinical areas.

  • Increased the number of Trust network pcs in the library 
  • Created more quiet study spaces 
  • Updated stock in particular areas

Get your fiction fix with Library Direct

Choose from a selection of books on loan from Surrey Public Libraries and available for you to borrow on site from the RSCH Library.


The current selection of Library Direct books are on loan to us for the next 3 months and will then be swapped for new titles.  Any member of staff or student on placement may borrow books. If you are not already a member of the RSCH library, please join, it’s free, and open to all staff.

NEW - Wiley Online Medical and Nursing eJournal Collection now available from RSCH Library!

We now have access to 400+ peer reviewed journals available via the Wiley Online Medical and Nursing Collection.

The titles available include:  Cancer, Birth, British Journal of Surgery, BJU International, International Journal of Dermatology, Journal of Advanced Nursing Journal of Clinical Nursing and lots more.

A full list is available here.


You will need an OpenAthens account, registered to the Royal Surrey to access these journals, and they will appear as links if you are carrying out a search on the Healthcare Databases - HDAS.  

You can also search for a specific journal title via  NICE A-Z Journal Search - https://journals.nice.org.uk/

  • Download the Medical Masterclass app from App Store or Google Play

Easter Opening Hours


The Library will be closed between 

Friday 14th and Monday 17th April

We will re-open at 9am on Tuesday 18th April.

Access via 24 hour swipe card will still be available during this time.

If you would like to use the library over the Easter weekend please contact the library team to register for a 24 hour card as soon as possible.

24 hour access is available to library members in return for a £20 refundable deposit.

UpToDate Anywhere - Don't forget you need to re-verify your account once every 3 months

Registration is easy…
  1. Access UpToDate via the desktop icon on a Trust computer.
  2. Click on Log in/Register in the top navigation bar of the UpToDate log in page.
  3. Create a unique user name and password on the UpToDate Anywhere registration page.
  4. You are now registered and will receive a confirmation email about installing the UpToDate Mobile App.
  5. You will need to log in via the Trust network once every 3 months to keep your account active.
UpToDate Anywhere gives you evidence-based guidance when and where you need it.
